A Twitter user who wrote an Ode to men which went viral yesterday, reportedly stole the post from a Facebook user who has already called her out.
The Ode which went viral yesterday reads;
Sometimes I wonder where you draw your strength from. You stay for months without buying clothes for yourself all because you want to put food on the table…
You stay hungry just so your family can eat and survive.. You get dressed and leave the house without direction, but you come back home with money after toiling day and night.. Some of you have been embarrassed, disgraced and abused because you can’t afford to get a decent job and when you bring home peanuts, they throw it right back in your face..
I know how you have deprived yourself of basic education just so your children can eat.. Most times you are insulted, abused by people you are older than, but you take the insults all because of your wife and kids..
Your parents look up to you for survival and they don’t even care if you have a job or not, you just have to provide for the family.. You pay huge bride prices just to marry the woman you love and you end up taking care of her family, take care of her siblings and even train some of them..
How you do all these amazes me and I pray the good lord to bless your hustle.. Stay alive for your mother, your wife and your kids!! , your loved ones in general. If you have a man that tries, a brother that tries,take one day and appreciate him, he might be starving just for you to survive!!
Dear men, thou art blessed!!
However which just found out that the Ode to men which we thought was written by a Twitter user @Maryhanoh, was stolen from a Facebook user Patrick Dominic II. Calling out the post thief, he wrote;
This Title isn’t mine so I’m not laying claims to it, I just want to say a few things and then end this plagiarism gist.. Recently someone was celebrated on all the platforms and even by Linda Ikeji (my idol) for posting my DEAR MEN post on twitter and she got rave reviews with alot of guys celebrating her and even giving her cash prizes.
Truth is, we can complain about the Government all we like, but taking credit for another man’s sleepless nights and Sweat is worse than killing someone. I posted once that I was almost running mad because of WRITING, Some persons thought it was a joke while some were kind enough to reach out to me and I was on steady medications for a while.
It doesn’t cost me anything to post 20 meaningful posts in a day but I have been advised to slow things down as my head hurts once in a while.. So when someone goes through all these and another man steals it, you think we are talking too much.
Facebook created “Share” button for a purpose and only a witch or wizard would carefully remove someone’s name and claim it as theirs and then tomorrow you would wonder why your life isn’t making progress..
So you see, how can I be inspired to create when I know that someone who joins me in shouting against plagiarism is the very same person that is stealing these stories… For all the writers out there, I don’t know if this menace will ever stop, but I pray God gives us the Grace to continue.
This is a full time Job for some of us and we only post some of our works here to gain recognition. Two years ago, I was just an ordinary guy here but we thank God for progress.. Personally? I’m tired!! Thanks Toby Nwazor and Nikita Ogban .. God bless you for coming through for me
