A Nigerian journalist identified as Stephen Kefas has been arrested again by the police, over a Facebook post he re-shared.
The Facebook post which got the Nigerian journalist, Stephen Kefas, arrested again by the police was a SaharaReporters exclusive story which detailed the events leading up to the death of Kajuru Monarch, Dr. Galadima Maiwada the Agom Of Adara Chiefdom in Kaduna state.
Sahara Reporters alleged that Kefas who is a known critics of Governor Nasir El-Rufai, was expected to be transferred to Kaduna in the morning based on ‘orders from above’.
“He was asked by a friend to meet at a particular place unknown to him it was a set up, they (police) picked him up from there and whisked him to the station. He is accused of injurious publication, incitement and false accusation” the source added.
Recall that few months ago, the Nigerian Police Force arraigned Deji Adeyanju, the Convener of Concerned Nigerians, for “criminal defamatory and derogatory conduct against constituent authority and breach of law and order pasted by Deji Adeyanju on his Facebook page”, among other offences.
A statement by acting DCP Jimoh Moshood, Force Public Relations Officer, Abuja headquarters, noted that the arrested persons contravened the law and were arrested for “criminal conspiracy, joint act, defamation of character, public nuisance, disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant, disturbance of public peace, inciting public disturbance, threat to public security and safety, criminal defamatory and derogatory conduct against constituent authority and breach of law and order under sections 96, 113, 114, 152, 183 and 391 of Penal Code law”.
