On Wednesday 30th January, 2019 the New York A.G ‘Attorney General’ Letitia James reached settlement with Devumi in a law suit for selling fake followers.
Devumi, is widely known as popular social media marketing agency that deals with promoting social media accounts on different platforms has been nabbed for selling fake followers to its extensive clientele. it was rooted out that devumi engaged in illegal deception and impersonation with its automated system.
Devumi’s customers included movie and television actors, musicians, businesses, politicians, pundits and commentators, athletes, academics, modeling agencies, marketing and public relations professionals and adult film
The New York A.G ‘Attorney General’ Letitia James speaking to pressmen said:
“Bots and other fake accounts have been running rampant on social media platforms, often stealing real people’s identities to carry out fraud,” James said of the settlement. “As people and companies like Devumi continue to make a quick buck by lying to honest Americans, my office will continue to find and stop anyone who sells online deception.”
